The Accent Methoda was designed by Svend Smith, a Danish phonetician and is widely used in Scandinavia and on the Continent. It is a holistic therapy regime designed to co-ordinate the muscles of respiration, phonation and articulation to produce efficient voice production and clear, resonant, well modulated speech. Initially the technique concentrates on establishing diaphragmatic breathing and abdomincal muscle control to regulate the expiratory air streatm. The therapist/teacher progesses the client through a series of graded vocal exercises at varying tempi to develop efficient voice and articulation production. This is then gradually conditioned into spontaneous speech.
The aim of this course is set out the rationale on which the Accent Method is based to allow delegates to experience the technique and provide them the practical skills and tools to bring into their own area of work. The 3rd day will be on 20th June 2012
